How It Works

Watch it working in a field of mosquitoes:

How Does it Work?

Mozzie Style gear is designed to use the pocket of air between your skin and the fabric to create a natural barrier that keeps insects away from your skin. The unique mesh fabric has micro-sized holes that insects are unable to fly or crawl through. We intentionally designed each piece to maintain it's shape and create an air pocket between your skin and the insect. Built without insecticides or added chemicals, this gear adds a layer of protection against mosquitoes, ticks, noseeums, black flies and more. You can use these products on their own or in combination with traditional repellents. Wash it and reuse it over and over again.

Scientifically Tested

Mozzie Style's fabric has been tested and found to significantly reduce the likelihood of mosquito bites by an insect scientist at Oklahoma State University. It was found to be just as effective as a long-sleeved shirt (as recommended by the CDC to reduce outdoor exposure to mosquitoes) in reducing mosquito biting behavior – but it’s more breathable and comfortable.

What to Consider

This gear is made from materials that are easy to clean and will survive many washes and most of the elements of nature. Because of this, it is a more cost-effective option than conventional insect repellents.

Please keep in mind that there is no solution that saves you from insect bites in every situation. Although the right clothing can play an important part in your plan to avoid insect bites, nothing can guarantee you 100% protection. For instance, if the netting is really tight against your skin, it will not provide proper insect protection. So, don't be afraid to size up, as it will increase the barrier of air between you and the insect.

Recycled Materials

Most of our products are made from 98% post-consumer materials like recycled water bottles. By choosing recycled polyester, we're able to deliver the same quality products, while reducing our environmental imprint.

Why Insecticide-Free?

A lot of the mosquito net clothing available at stores is treated with Permethrin (which is an insecticide, not a repellent). That means that it KILLS all insects. It is toxic to pollinating insects like bees, butterflies and other insects you come into contact with. Without pollinating insects, the plants we grow in our gardens or on local farms cannot complete the pollination process and produce fruits or vegetables.

Permethrin is the only insecticide approved by the EPA for the treatment of fabric/clothing. However, mosquitoes are evolving and are becoming resistant to Permethrin, which can make it completely ineffective against mosquitoes in overused locations. With this in mind, we develop products that can be used on their own or in combination with traditional repellents to better protect our environment.
